The National Work Experience Programme (NWEP) is a work experience program which places job ready job seekers in real life work experience placements where they can gain skills, experience and confidence to move from welfare to work while giving back to their community
To be eligible to participate in the NWEP you must be:
You can participate in NWEP at any time and participation is entirely voluntary.
The NWEP offers work experience through unpaid placements with employers of up to 25 hours per week, for a maximum of four weeks.
Participating in NWEP will give you the chance to:
If the employer thinks you are a good fit for their business, you may be offered a job with them at the end of the placement. When you take part in NWEP you will receive an extra $20.80 per fortnight in addition to your income support payment.
There are many different types of roles and activities you can do through a NWEP placement. We will discuss with you the things you think you are good at and the types of jobs you want to do. This will help to find the right placement for you.
The purpose is to place you in a work-like role. This will give you the best opportunity to show your skills to a potential employer.
In placing you in an NWEP placement, Complete Personnel will make sure you have completed any necessary workplace specific training or required activities before you start. Complete Personnel will also continue to support you while you undertake NWEP and look for work.
An NWEP placement can be undertaken in businesses run for profit or not-for-profit business, or even a local, state or federal government agency.
Complete Personnel can help you to identify a suitable business where you could complete your work experience.
Let us know if there is a specific business you want to do an NWEP placement in. If it is suitable, Complete Personnel will help you to approach the employer to see if there are job opportunities available and negotiate a work experience placement.
