Corporate Profile
On 1 September 2007, a new star in the metal industry emerged – Nyrstar. Our company is the world’s leading zinc producer and a major lead producer. It was created from the zinc and lead smelting and alloying operations of Australian zinc miner Zinifex and Belgium’s materials technology company Umicore.

Nyrstar’s operations span four continents and employ over 4,000 people. Annual production in 2006 on a pro forma basis was more than one million tonnes of zinc and zinc alloys, with significant production of lead and silver, as well. We also produce other valuable by-products, such as gold, indium and copper. We believe that our plants’ locations are well positioned to supply the largest and fastest growing zinc consuming markets in the world including China, the USA and Europe and to benefit from further growth in India, the Middle East and Russia. Nyrstar operates to high safety and environmental standards, continuing to build on the levels achieved by its parent companies, Umicore and Zinifex.
